Summary:
|
Staff request approval to ratify grant submission and acceptance of the Disney Arts in Education grant for El Monte Elementary. The Disney Musicals in Schools Grant presents a special opportunity to introduce the collaborative art of musical theatre to schools, strengthen arts programming, and develop partnerships among students, faculty, staff, and the greater community. As a recipient of the grant, El Monte will receive: A free performance license to a 30-minute Disney KIDS musical of your choosing; ShowKit materials, including a director’s guide, student scripts, cross-curricular activities, accompaniment and rehearsal CDs, and a choreography DVD; in-school support from Bay Area Children’s Theatre Teaching Artists; and an Opportunity to perform at the Student Share Celebration on a professional stage in Oakland for peers, family and friends.
