Meal Price Comparison Inter-District 2017-18.pdf
Summary
:
Food and Nutrition Services is self-funded by revenue from food and beverage sales. The cost of food and labor has risen since the last meal price increase and we now recommend equalizing higher costs by making the following meal price increases for the 2018/2019 year.
Breakfast Lunch
From To From To
Elementary $1.50 $2.00 $3.00 $3.25
Middle $2.00 $2.50 $3.25 $3.50
High $2.25 $2.50 $3.50 No Change
In addition, district nutrition standards for snack foods and beverages were fully implemented this year. While this enhances district efforts to combat childhood obesity, it comes at a cost. Because student demand for the more nutritious snacks is developing slowly, sales have dropped. In addition, the cost to purchase these items is higher so net income for snack sales has also dropped.
Below are the current 2017-2018 meal prices for surrounding districts:
Elementary Middle High
Breakfast Lunch Breakfast Lunch Breakfast Lunch
Antioch $2.00 $3.25 $2.00 $3.25 $2.00 $3.50
SRVUSD $2.50 $4.25 $2.50 $4.75 $2.50 $4.75
WC N/A $3.00 NA $3.50 NA $3.50
WCCUSD $1.50 $2.25 $2.00 $2.75 $2.00 $2.
Funding
:
N/A
Fiscal Impact
:
No impact to the general fund. New meal prices would increase revenue by $144,425 for Cafeteria Fund.
Recommendation
