Summary
:
Stepping Stones is a non-public agency (NPA) that provides Speech and Language Pathology Services for school based services that are identified on Individual Education Plans (IEP's). When the district (MDUSD) is not able to fill all open positions with district employees, the use of contract agencies is necessary to ensure that we are in compliance with state and federal law that govern special education. Stepping Stones is a company that is utilized to provide Speech Services to ensure that all of our needed Speech Services are covered for the 2018-2019 school year. MDUSD Human Resources Department and Special Education continue to recruit and hire district employees.

The original contracted amount between MDUSD and Stepping Stones was for $400,000. The requested increase is for $140,000. This amount it already included in the approved budget for the 2018-2019 school year.
