Summary: A textbook committee was convened to identify instructional materials to support the Board adopted course Medical Science and Terminology. The committee reviewed three textbooks and is recommending "Medical Terminology for Health Professions, 8th Ed.", (Ehrlich, Schroeder, Ehrlich, Schroeder). This textbook is aligned with the CTE Model Standards for Health Pathways and includes excellent visuals, including pictures, illustrations, tables, and other figures to support the content of the course. Additionally, the textbook includes an unique pronunciation tool as well as an audio library. Supplemental materials include Mindtap resources for use by both students and teachers, a workbook, online technical support, and flashcards. The textbook was piloted during the 2017-2018 school year and was found by parents and students to be easily accessible and supportive to students enrolled in the course. This textbook is also used at the local community college and supports articulation between Mt. Diablo Unified School District and the local community college.

The text will be available for public review and comment in the Dent lobby until September 12, 2018.
Funding: Instructional materials fund 0110
Fiscal Impact $6,703.13
