Summary:
|
On December 5, 2017, Clayton Valley Charter experienced a heating failure to multiple student occupied spaces on campus. The heater boiler was found to have a substantial leak and it was determined to be inoperable and required extensive repair. To maintain the health and safety of students and staff, immediate action was required.
In an emergency when any repairs, alterations, work, or improvement is necessary to any facility of public schools to permit the continuance of existing school classes, or to avoid danger to life or property, Public Contract Code ยง 20113 allows that the board may, by unanimous vote, with the approval of the county superintendent of schools, make a contract in writing or otherwise on behalf of the district for the performance of labor and furnishing of materials or supplies for the purpose without advertising for or inviting bids.
