Summary:
|
The core communication devices used have issues in “dead spots” and the technology is outdated. Through NPPGov Contracts, Maintenance, Operations & Facilities staff has determined that the AT&T Exclusive FirstNet Solution and Wireless Voice/ Data Service Plan will best serve the department. This plan includes FirstNet, a nationwide public safety communications platform that prioritizes the user and keeps them on the top of the bandwidth (no throttle back) in the case of a natural disaster or other catastrophic event to maintain communication. In addition, this service will allow a bridge between each device and the work order system to increase production, efficiency and processing work orders.
The new service will result in a savings of $14,509 per year after the initial startup cost. Our current annual cost for the push-to-talk service ($19,442) & VersaTrans GPS ($41,423) is $60,866.
