Summary:
Tamara Helfer, DBA Sequoia Science Education, will work as project director for the MDUSD NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) in the Garden Program for 5 schools - Bancroft, El Monte, Fair Oaks, Mt. Diablo, and Sequoia Elementary Schools. Duties include coordinating all aspects of the garden education programs, offer project direction and act as the Garden Education and Cooking & Nutrition liaison to MDUSD for the REAL Food in Schools Collaborative, including helping to coordinate professional development and educational efforts from other RFISC partners, hire and oversee garden educators at school sites, developing scope and sequence of NGSS in the Garden lessons and curriculum, components of program, and continuing interaction with other entities supporting NGSS development, including but not limited to Life Lab, Edible Schoolyard, Education Outside, Center for Eco literacy. Program will be evaluated by UC Davis researchers.
