Subject: 18.6 Review and Potential Approval of the Job Description for Program Specialist: Foster Youth and Homeless Youth

Goal 4:
Focus scholars, specifically Black/African American students, Foster Youth, students experiencing homelessness, students with disabilities and emerging bilingual students, will experience culturally responsive practices and instruction, high expectations, equal access to educational opportunities, within an educational environment that builds trust and inclusive partnerships between the students, parents/guardians and staff.

Summary: The District has been identified as requiring additional support due to the underachievement of particular groups of students, two of which include Foster Youth and Homeless Youth. This position is being created to provide additional support to site staff as they work together to support the unique needs and uphold the rights of these two groups of students. For the 2022/2023 School Year these services were performed by a staff member in collaboration with CCCOE however that position is eliminated for the 2023/2024 school year. The need for the work still exists.
Funding: LCFF Supplemental
Fiscal Impact $149,600 per year
