On February 21, 2024, staff presented and the Board approved the Phase I furniture purchase as part of the modernizations occurring at Mt. Diablo, Meadow Homes, and Rio Vista Elementary Schools, new classroom furniture will be purchased. The new 21st classroom furniture provides student-centered environments with agile furniture that supports student focus through fidget and movement. The furniture plan includes consolidated organization solutions that increase the classroom floor space, while providing ultimate organization and ease of access to materials. On May 8, 2024, staff returned with an additional purchase request for Phase I, including additional classroom furniture for Meadow Homes Elementary (anticipated enrollment/program changes) as well as the main office packages for Mt. Diablo Elementary and Rio Vista Elementary for this Phase. In response to site staff feedback, we are now returning with an additional purchase request for Rio Vista Elementary to accommodate requests for additional student chairs, additional classroom book shelves, storage and more.
