Summary
:
Mt. Diablo Unified School District, Eat REAL, Wellness in Action and Life Lab have partnered to form the "Real Food in Schools Collaborative". This collaborative is focused on increasing garden and culinary education, strengthening food service systems and delivery, and enhancing parent and community engagement. Collectively, the Real Food in Schools Collaborative plans to apply for the Battery Powered Grant focused on Improving Nutrition. Battery Powered, is a giving program that brings its members together to offer competitive grants three times a year by supporting organizations and learning from front line experts. The current themed grant focus is "What will it take to nourish the Bay Area’s children so they thrive in school and beyond?" Staff request approval of the Memorandum of Understanding outlining the Real Foods in Schools Collaborative partnership.
