Summary: California's Governor, Gavin Newsom's, 2023-2024 budget demonstrated his commitment to supporting community colleges and the expansion of dual enrollment programs. In response to this support, California Community College recently developed Vision 2030 which is their framework describing how to advance student success, access, and support socio-economic mobility with equity. One of the tools to achieve this will be increasing access to dual enrollment programs, with the goal of students graduating from high school with 12 college credits. In response to this work, MDUSD is working with Diablo Valley College to expand dual enrollment opportunities for MDUSD students. In addition to the expansion of College Now, MDUSD and DVC will offer at least one college class at each of the comprehensive high schools in the district.
