Summary: Ygnacio Valley High School’s Health Academy and Education Academy are seeking to adopt the following courses: Advanced English and Public Health (11th Grade); Contemporary Issues in Education - An English Honors Course & Exploration of Child and Adolescent Literature Honors Course (10th Grade). These courses will be used in place of the traditional English 2 and English 3. The courses are based on courses developed by the UC Curriculum Integration project. They are intended to be used by career pathways to connect the CTE courses to the academic curriculum. Since these courses have program status and have already received both the A-G and Honors designation by the UC system, the courses will be adopted as written. These courses will assist the two academies in providing contextualized learning for their students. These courses will not be used outside of the relevant pathways.
