Summary:
|
Review and potential approval of additional work-site agreements for Student Internships for Mt. Diablo Unified School District Students. The 2 worksite agreements needing approval include documents for the following partners: DVC PUMA Center and Contra Costa Public Health.
Over the past eight years, MDUSD has focused on expanding students’ college and career readiness and access to school year and summer internship opportunities. These internships are in partnership with Youth Empowerment Services (YES) Program and the district's Career Pathways Program. YES is a program designed to give vulnerable youth access to work-based learning opportunities and academic and social-emotional support to obtain their high school diploma. Paid and unpaid internships will take place during the summer and school year for eligible students in both virtual and in-person where permissible. Paid internships will be funded by grants and donations.
In summer 2025, MDUSD will have 26 internship hosts, 15 of which are industry partners and 11 of which will be MDUSD departments. Up to 72 students will participate in the internships. To support the internships, industry partners enter into worksite agreements. MDUSD has 17 current active worksite agreements. It is seeking approval for 2 more agreements.
