Summary: An important component of the network modernization projects at multiple MDUSD sites is the deployment of Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) telephones. These phones utilize the District network, rather than traditional phone lines. The MDUSD I.T. Department thoroughly evaluated three leading VOIP providers to determine functionality, compatibility, and establish projected pricing. I.T. Department staff also met with I.T. Department staff in three nearby Districts. Based on this analysis, we selected Ring Central for an initial pilot of VOIP services. Based on the experience to date, we are recommending expanding licensing with Ring Central to continue VOIP services to existing sites and to expand these services to the additional network modernization sites.
Funding: I.T. Department Budget
Fiscal Impact $98,500.00
Recommendation: Move to approve Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) telephone licensing with Ring Central.
